On June 24, 2022, the Dobbs decision to overturn Roe v Wade was shocking for so many Americans. I remember having a moment with my team that morning as we learned of the decision before canvassing a neighborhood.
I remember the energy and passion of fellow speakers and the folks that showed up that afternoon at the rally in Detroit to be together and to act.
That November, Michiganders said in a loud and clear voice at the ballot box that abortion is healthcare and we enshrined reproductive freedom into our constitution. I remember talking to many women who were ready to take action -- and I also remember many conversations with men with young adult daughters who want them to have the freedom to choose.
I'm grateful to have served in a legislature where we went further and repealed the 1931 abortion ban and passed the Reproductive Health Act.
This past week, the Michigan Senate passed legislation by Mallory McMorrow to protect the ability of patients to go get reproductive healthcare without getting attacked, intimidated or harassed -- at fertility clinics, abortion clinics, and other health facilities where reproductive health care is provided. Proud to have voted YES.

"When Public Sector Consultants was hired to chart the need for water assistance programs in the state to assist Chang in craft the water affordability bills in previous sessions, the firm found that 371,522 households couldn’t afford to pay for water and that their water bills were more than 2% to 3% of their annual income.
[Maggie Pallone] noted that even Birmingham, which is typically regarded as a wealthier community, qualifies for some of the programs being discussed.
'Safe water service is just as essential to life and public health as electricity and gas,' Rubino said."
