"When Public Sector Consultants was hired to chart the need for water assistance programs in the state to assist Chang in craft the water affordability bills in previous sessions, the firm found that 371,522 households couldn’t afford to pay for water and that their water bills were more than 2% to 3% of their annual income.
[Maggie Pallone] noted that even Birmingham, which is typically regarded as a wealthier community, qualifies for some of the programs being discussed.

Today, I proudly spoke on the Senate floor in support of SR 64, which formally opposes the reckless federal legislation, often referred to as the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” This proposal would gut Medicaid and put the health of millions of Americans at risk, including over half a million right here in Michigan.
