Yesterday, I had the honor of taking up our bipartisan Police Practices Standardization, Transparency and Trust (STAT) bill package for a hearing in the Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety.
Senate Bills 333-343 will help enhance public safety and police/community trust, by building upon the work of many agencies in Michigan. By adopting strong use of force policies, limiting no knock warrants, giving law enforcement leaders the tools they need to not hire bad cops with a track record of misconduct, ensuring every officer has the duty to intervene, and more, we can improve police practices across the state. Thank you to all the organizations across the political spectrum for speaking out in support and former Senator Rick Jones for joining us yesterday!
