Last night at the State of the County, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans announced that the Allen Road Grade Separation would see the first shovel in the ground in the coming weeks!
As you all know, Patricia Odette Mayor City of Woodhaven and I have been on this project since I first got elected 8 years ago. She and others like Congresswoman Debbie Dingell have been working on this for 15 years before that, too. Everyone told me that it was impossible. That I shouldn't even try. But that's not who I am -- and I pushed anyway.
With the help of Senator Stephanie Chang, we secured the funding and brought all levels of government together 5 years ago. Then, designs, plans, permits, land acquisition, negotiations, utility conversations, and more took place. It's been a long and winding road, but I never gave up and kept on every entity to keep us on track.

I called anyone I needed to in order to bridge issues and solve problems. Anytime I saw a county staffer, I asked about this project. This moment tells me that it all paid off.
I want to be clear -- this next phase is the utility relocation before the bridge work begins. There are nearly a dozen different utilities including cable, wifi, water, electrical, oil, gas, and more that all run underground and need to be relocated. That is what is taking place first.
After this phase, the bridge work will start. I'm excited that we are here. There is still so much more work to do. But I am not going to stop until we're done. I will continue to do that until I can drive under the railroad on Allen Road. ... See MoreSee Less

What’s the status and timeline for Huron Township on Pennsylvania Rd?
Thank you for your hard work in fighting for this project! It's long overdue and, like you said, impossible, but you got us to the finish line!
