My team and I are closely monitoring the situation and the state is working to assess and respond to the flooding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note&nbsp;<\/strong>that more rain is expected tonight and over the coming days and there is a flood watch in effect for Macomb until 2 a.m. Sunday. You can stay up to date on any flood watches or flood warnings at the National Weather Service\u2019s website,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weather.gov<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Flooding at your home or business<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please take photos of any flooding damage in your home so that you can use them when you file a claim with your insurance&nbsp;provider and&nbsp;contact them for further instructions.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resources<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>United Way for Southeastern Michigan: call 2-1-1 if you need assistance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>American Red Cross: If you are in immediate need of help, you can contact the local Red Cross at (313) 833-4440&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from the rain, the heat and humidity are also an issue, especially for those who lose power.&nbsp; If you need help staying cool, please visit the Macomb County Health Department\u2019s website at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/health.macombgov.org\/Health-Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health.macombgov.org<\/a>&nbsp;or call the Macomb Health Department at 586-469-5100.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DTE: To report a power outage or a downed powerline, you can call DTE\u2019s 24-hour phone number at 1-800-477-4747 or report online at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/outage.dteenergy.com\/report-outage?_gl=1*n3w27j*_ga*MjA4NDAyOTIyMC4xNjI0NzM1NjI0*_ga_J2R5W9DWE4*MTYyNDczNTYyMy4xLjEuMTYyNDczNjI4NS4w&amp;_ga=2.121727688.2127066044.1624735624-2084029220.1624735624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DTE Outage Center<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you or a loved one are stranded on a freeway or other roadway during a flooding event, please call 9-1-1 for help. Law enforcement encourages you to call and ask for help once and not call again for an ETA due to the heavy volume of calls.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional tips that may be helpful<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Preparing for a Flood&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create an emergency preparedness kit with a 72-hour supply of water, including three gallons per person.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scan and store important documents on an online, cloud-based program.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put important documents and valuables in a water-proof container on the top floor of your home.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand how to safely turn off electricity and gas lines in your home.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create an inventory of your household items and take photos of the interior and exterior of your home.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider installing sewer&nbsp;back flow&nbsp;valves to prevent flood water from backing up into your home through drainpipes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Double-check sump pumps to ensure they are working properly. If possible, have a battery backup system.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep materials like sandbags, plywood, plastic sheeting and lumber handy for emergency waterproofing.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find out how many feet your property is above and below flood levels. When predicted flood levels are broadcast, you can determine if you may be flooded.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rise or flood-proof heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment by elevating equipment above areas prone to flooding. Another method is to leave equipment where it is and build a concrete or masonry block flood wall around it.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anchor fuel tanks. Floodwaters can easily move unanchored fuel tanks.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>During a Flood&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Turn off utilities if instructed to do so. Disconnect all electrical equipment.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not walk-through moving water. Six inches is enough water to knock you down.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not drive in flooded areas. Six inches of water can cause you to lose control and two feet of water can sweep away your car. Remember: Turn around, don\u2019t drown.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listen to local media reports for information about if the water supply is safe to drink.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid contacting flood waters because they can be contaminated by hazardous liquids and may contain sharp debris.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report and stay 25 feet away from downed power lines.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Driving in Flood Conditions&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars causing loss of control and stalling. A foot of water will float many vehicles.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles including sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and pickups trucks.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not attempt to drive through a flooded road. The depth of water is not always obvious. The roadbed may be washed out under the water, and you could be stranded or trapped.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not drive around a barricade. Barricades are there for your protection. Turn around and go the other way.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not try to take short cuts\u2014they may be blocked. Stick to designated routes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be especially cautious driving at night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for reading this update.
