DC3S is a center for collaboration and synergy between business, military, and the area community<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/senatedems.com\/wojno\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/01\/Wojno_RibbonCuttingDC3Macomb_bw-677x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5283 size-full\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"color:#ffffff;background-color:#25439b\">KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Protect Against Elder Abuse &amp; Fraud<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was appointed this session to the newly created Elder Abuse Task Force by Attorney General Dana Nessel, where I joined Michigan Supreme Court Justices Richard Bernstein and Megan Cavanagh, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, and more than 30 other officials from around the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Our Attorney General created this Task Force to implement various initiatives to streamline reporting and reduce the risk of elder abuse. More than 73,000 older adults have been victims of abuse \u2014 and many more are targets. Seniors are vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and much of it is unreported or underreported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>We need to ensure that our vulnerable adults are receiving the care and protection they deserve. <\/strong><em>-Sen. Wojno<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/senatedems.com\/wojno\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/01\/WojnoNesselElderAbuse._bw-926x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5286 size-full\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-normal-font-size\" style=\"color:#25439b\">If you or someone you know might be a victim of elder abuse, the attorney general\u2019s office recommends that you should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take photographs and written notes on what you observed, when you observed it, and who was present, along with any further helpful information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Immediately report incidents to the nursing home or health care facility administrator, if applicable; and,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report the abuse to the Office of the Attorney General at <strong>(800) 242-2873 <\/strong>and to the Michigan Department of Health &amp; Human Services Adult Protective Services at <strong>(855) 444-3911<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/senatedems.com\/wojno\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/01\/GettyImages-1048954912_bw-1024x643.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5287 size-full\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-meals-on-wheels\">Meals on Wheels<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#25439b\">Macomb County Meals on Wheels (586) 469-5228 | mca@macombgov.org<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No one should go without access to healthy meals. If you, or a senior you know, are struggling to pay for food, Meals on Wheels can help.<br><br>This program provides five nutritious meals per week to homebound, older adults.
