The PDAB aims to address this issue by implementing measures to regulate prescription drug costs, ensuring that essential medications are accessible and affordable for everyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n In 2020, while the costs of many goods were rising, the prices of 500 prescription drugs in Michigan increased at a rate twice that of inflation. Michigan Senate Democrats are committed to alleviating the burden of prescription drug costs on Michigan residents and employers \u2013 and they are taking meaningful action to combat this persistent problem.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To learn more about this legislation, click here<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Senate Democrats Take Steps to Improve Access to Care for Michigan Drivers\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n We all want to do what we can to help Michiganders save money and lower costs for people, including the cost of auto insurance. But that shouldn\u2019t be done at the expense of people who have been severely injured and permanently disabled by an auto accident.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n With the previous changes to our state\u2019s auto insurance system, we’ve now had several years to reevaluate some of the intended consequences \u2014 and address some of the unintended ones. To help keep yourself and your community healthy, I encourage you to take advantage of the free vaccine and testing options available to you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Protects Against New Variants\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) recommends all Michiganders 6 months and older receive the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine which is designed to provide protection against severe COVID-19 disease from currently circulating variants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Most Michigan residents can still get a COVID-19 vaccine for free. For people with health insurance, most plans will cover COVID-19 vaccine at no cost to you. Michigan residents who don\u2019t have health insurance or have health plans that do not cover the cost can reach out to a health care provider or local pharmacy participating in the CDC\u2019s Bridge Access Program<\/a>, their health department or visit Vaccines.gov<\/a> for additional information on ways to obtain a free vaccine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For more information, click here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Testing Options: At-Home and In-Person\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n As of September 25, 2023, all U.S. residents are able to go to COVIDTests.gov<\/a>and sign up to receive up to four free at-home tests per household delivered via the U.S. Postal Service.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) also continues to partner with libraries across the state to provide free at-home COVID-19 tests to Michiganders.
