and environmental justice for people too long neglected, affordability, compliance with the clean energy standards in <a title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(5icg5lpx2mq3ajwtbxt5bale))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0271\">SB 271<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(utgsnb44decb3enhorpmqacw))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0273\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(utgsnb44decb3enhorpmqacw))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0273\">SB 273<\/a>, and public health, when approving Integrated Resource Planning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>By addressing key financial and accessibility issues with transitioning to renewable energy sources, the Clean Energy Future Plan will make our homes and businesses more Here\u2019s a quick recap:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>Passed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Senate Bill <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0410\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0410\">410<\/a> to provide accountability for drug companies, restoring Michiganders\u2019 ability to pursue justice and recoup damages if a faulty drug leads to injury or death\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Senate Bills <a href=\"474\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"474\">474<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0477\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0477\">477<\/a> to establish the Reproductive Health Act, building on the repeal of Michigan\u2019s 1931 abortion ban and reducing barriers for those seeking reproductive healthcare.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Senate Bills <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(ctwhcvmxgnm44eeqfco1biwk))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0530\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(ctwhcvmxgnm44eeqfco1biwk))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0530\">530<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0531\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0531\">531<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(ctwhcvmxgnm44eeqfco1biwk))\/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&amp;objectName=2023-SB-0575\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(ctwhcvmxgnm44eeqfco1biwk))\/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&amp;objectName=2023-SB-0575\">575<\/a> to strengthen Michigan\u2019s 2019 auto no-fault policy reform and improve access to care for Michigan drivers.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Senate Bill <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0351\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0351\">351<\/a> to strengthen Breastfeeding Anti-Discrimination Act to expand protections for those who use a breast pump or other means to express milk\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Senate Bills <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0395\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0395\">395<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0396\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2023-SB-0396\">396<\/a> to abandon punitive and problematic requirements to better enable the growth of teachers\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>Juvenile Justice Package\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The Juvenile Justice Taskforce came up with several recommendations last year to reform the way we treat Juveniles in our criminal justice system. We\u2019ve been hard at work implementing these reforms in the Juvenile Justice Package.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span>My bills in this package are SB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(lhv3vx0tlelxezsvl2gluend))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0424\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(lhv3vx0tlelxezsvl2gluend))\/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&amp;objectname=2023-SB-0424\">424<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(o555iefus1ipbt5a0xqdm2id))\/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&amp;objectName=2023-SB-0425\" data-ogsc=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/(S(o555iefus1ipbt5a0xqdm2id))\/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&amp;objectName=2023-SB-0425\">425<\/a>, respectively, they amend the Indigent Defense Commission Act to require the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission to serve indigent adults and youths, and require the Appellate Defender Commission to create a system of appellate defense services for indigent youth. We discussed ways to protect ourselves from scams and predatory business practices. I apprecjate the time our attorney general spent with us\u2014she made protecting ourselves from scams fun. And I was ready when a scammer called me the next day with \u201c important personal information\u201d for a family member. Many residents have spoken out against this fence. I have relayed community concerns to MDOT and urged them to provide safe passage instead. My colleague, Representative Emily Dievendorf, joined me and elected officials as well as farmers from across the country. We tackled a number of important issues such as changes in the market, succession, the barriers BIPOC farmers face, access to capital, and Right to Repair policy.
