Today marks one of the most meaningful and impactful days of my career in the legislature. Senate Bill 78—legislation that would allow conviction courts to revisit offenses committed by individuals before they turned 18—took a major step forward.
This bill reflects a growing understanding that our justice system must account for the capacity for growth, change, and rehabilitation—especially in our youth. It’s about creating a pathway to redemption and recognizing that one mistake as a teenager shouldn’t define a person for life.

🌸 Black Maternal Health Week 🌸
This week, we come together to honor and uplift the voices of Black mothers and families. Black Maternal Health Week is a powerful reminder of the urgent need to address the disparities in maternal health care and advocate for equitable and respectful treatment for all mothers.
Black women face higher rates of complications and mortality during pregnancy and childbirth. It's crucial to shine a light on these disparities and work towards a future where every mother receives the care and support she deserves.
Educate yourself about the challenges Black mothers face and the systemic issues contributing to these disparities. Support organizations dedicated to improving Black maternal health, and amplify the voices of Black mothers by sharing their stories and experiences.
Together, we can make a difference. Let's ensure that all mothers have access to safe, respectful, and equitable care. 💕
