Protecting Patients. Strengthening Accountability.
In Michigan, two important bills — SB 475 and SB 476 — are moving forward to ensure stronger protections for patients and clearer standards for our healthcare professionals.
SB 475 prohibits invasive bodily examinations on patients who are unconscious or under anesthesia unless proper consent is given or specific medical exceptions apply.
SB 476 updates the Public Health Code to clarify who qualifies as a licensed health professional — strengthening oversight and accountability across our healthcare system.
Together, these bills help safeguard patient dignity, reinforce trust in medical settings, and ensure that Michigan’s health professionals meet the highest standards of care.
