Last year, more than 4.8 million Michigan taxpayers e-filed, which is 88% of state income tax filers. For more information about e-filing, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/taxes\/efile\">mifastfile.org<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Individuals who e-file typically receive their refunds approximately two weeks after receiving confirmation that the tax return was accepted by the state of Michigan. Taxpayers can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/taxes\/iit\/tax-time\/sending-payments-to-treasury\">pay their outstanding tax balance by check, money order, eCheck, debit or credit card<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file a return beyond the April 18 deadline can request an extension to Oct. 18, 2022. Taxpayers requesting additional time to file should estimate their tax liability and pay any taxes owed by April 18, 2022, to avoid additional interest and penalties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\"><b><i>Questions?<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Taxpayers with questions about their state income taxes are encouraged to use <a href=\"https:\/\/etreas.michigan.gov\/iit\/home\">Treasury eServices<\/a>. The online platform enables taxpayers to ask state income tax-related questions when convenient and avoids the extended wait times for calls this time of year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICES ARE NOW REOPENED NATIONWIDE\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For the first time since March 2020, Social Security offices are open around the country. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/chicago\/michigan.html\">36 offices across the state of Michigan<\/a>, including multiple throughout Wayne County. There are also many other offices across the Metro Detroit area. While appointments aren\u2019t required, the Social Security Administration is highly encouraging residents to schedule one in advance of your visit. The offices are generally busiest first thing in the morning, early in the week, and early in the month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">While offices are reopened, the Social Security\u2019s online services will still be available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/onlineservices\/\">ssa.gov\/onlineservices<\/a> or via their toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can call the toll-free number at 1-800-325-0778. Online services are available for extended hours throughout the week, while the phone line is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Downloadable immunization records are accessible for adults 18 and older free of charge at the Michigan Immunization Portal. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/mdhhsmiimmsportal.state.mi.us\/\">Michigan.gov\/MIimmsportal<\/a> and upload a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver&#8217;s license, state ID or passport. Gretchen Whitmer announced the recipients of grants totaling $4 million to provide young adults with a meaningful introduction to the world of work, including jobs skills, onsite, hybrid, and virtual career exploration and preparation activities, and earned income. The Young Professionals program aligns with Michigan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixtyby30.org\/\">Sixty by 30<\/a> goal to increase the number of working-age adults with a skill certificate or college degree to 60% by 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The initiative is designed to reduce youth unemployment and place young adults, ages 14-24, on the right path to achieve lifelong economic self-sufficiency and support those who are struggling to obtain employment by exposing them to multiple career and educational opportunities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The Sixty by 30 goal seeks to build a better Michigan in three ways:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Close the skills gap that poses the single greatest threat to the success of our businesses and our state\u2019s prosperity. Jobs requiring skilled employees today, as well as jobs on the horizon, demand greater education and training than ever before. Last year, more than 4.8 million Michigan taxpayers e-filed, which is 88% of state income tax filers. For more information about e-filing, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/taxes\/efile\">mifastfile.org<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><br><\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Individuals who e-file typically receive their refunds approximately two weeks after receiving confirmation that the tax return was accepted by the state of Michigan. Taxpayers can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/taxes\/iit\/tax-time\/sending-payments-to-treasury\">pay their outstanding tax balance by check, money order, eCheck, debit or credit card<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><br><\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file a return beyond the April 18 deadline can request an extension to Oct. 18, 2022. Taxpayers requesting additional time to file should estimate their tax liability and pay any taxes owed by April 18, 2022, to avoid additional interest and penalties.&nbsp;<\/span><br><\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent\"><b><i>Questions?<\/i><\/b>&nbsp;<\/span><br><\/p><p>Taxpayers with questions about their state income taxes are encouraged to use <a href=\"https:\/\/etreas.michigan.gov\/iit\/home\">Treasury eServices<\/a>. The online platform enables taxpayers to ask state income tax-related questions when convenient and avoids the extended wait times for calls this time of year.&nbsp;<\/p><p><br><\/p><p><b>SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICES ARE NOW REOPENED NATIONWIDE&nbsp;<\/b><\/p><p>For the first time since March 2020, Social Security offices are open around the country. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/chicago\/michigan.html\">36 offices across the state of Michigan<\/a>, including multiple throughout Wayne County. There are also many other offices across the Metro Detroit area. While appointments aren\u2019t required, the Social Security Administration is highly encouraging residents to schedule one in advance of your visit. The offices are generally busiest first thing in the morning, early in the week, and early in the month.&nbsp;<\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">While offices are reopened, the Social Security\u2019s online services will still be available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/onlineservices\/\">ssa.gov\/onlineservices<\/a> or via their toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can call the toll-free number at 1-800-325-0778. Online services are available for extended hours throughout the week, while the phone line is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. be administered to individuals 50 years of age and older.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">A second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine may be administered to moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals 12 years of age and older.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">A second booster dose of Gretchen Whitmer announced the recipients of grants totaling $4 million to provide young adults with a meaningful introduction to the world of work, including jobs skills, onsite, hybrid, and virtual career exploration and preparation activities, and earned income. The Young Professionals program aligns with Michigan's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixtyby30.org\/\">Sixty by 30<\/a> goal to increase the number of working-age adults with a skill certificate or college degree to 60% by 2030.&nbsp;<\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">The initiative is designed to reduce youth unemployment and place young adults, ages 14-24, on the right path to achieve lifelong economic self-sufficiency and support those who are struggling to obtain employment by exposing them to multiple career and educational opportunities.&nbsp;<\/span><br><\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">The Sixty by 30 goal seeks to build a better Michigan in three ways:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><br><\/p><p><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Close the skills gap that poses the single greatest threat to the success of our businesses and our state\u2019s prosperity.
