(Oct. 21, 2025) \u2014 Today, the Michigan Senate unanimously passed legislation sponsored by Sen. <b>Mallory McMorrow <\/b>(D-Royal Oak) to establish a statewide Silver Alert public notification system to help find missing seniors and vulnerable adults.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the blink of an eye, a family\u2019s whole world changes when a loved one goes missing, sparking unimaginable fear and the want for them to <i>just get home safe<\/i>,\u201d said<i> <\/i>Sen. <b>McMorrow<\/b>. \u201cBy strengthening our law enforcement toolkit through these critical changes, that\u2019s exactly what this legislation will do \u2014 help ensure Michigan\u2019s missing seniors and vulnerable adults return to the security of their homes and arms of their family members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senate Bill <span><a id=\"OWA2f42a6d4-9355-3e43-da54-f5222495511b\" class=\"x_Hyperlink x_SCXW221721904 x_BCX0 x_OWAAutoLink\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/Bills\/Bill?ObjectName=2025-SB-0456\" data-linkindex=\"1\" title=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/Bills\/Bill?ObjectName=2025-SB-0456\">456<\/a><\/span> would require local law enforcement to notify Michigan State Police (MSP) when a senior or vulnerable adult goes missing. MSP would then activate alerts through the federal Wireless Emergency Alert system, ensuring immediate public notification \u2014 much like an Amber Alert.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Michigan law allows Silver Alerts to be shared amongst first responders, but not with the public, who often are first to intercept missing and vulnerable seniors.
