L<\/span>ANSING<\/span>, MI<\/span>\u00a0(March 8, 2023)<\/span>\u2014<\/span>To<\/span>day, Michigan state Senator\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Mallory McMorrow<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(D-Royal Oak)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>released the following statement on the vote repealing the Michigan\u2019s 1931 abortion ban:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

\u201cThe voters of Michigan sent a clear message in the 2022 election when they enshrined reproductive rights and abortion access into our state Constitution: women and families have the right to decide\u00a0<\/span><\/span>if and when<\/span>\u00a0to get pregnant, and deserve access to safe, secure healthcare in all reproductive decisions – without politicians. As elected officials, it is our duty to uphold the state Constitution and respect the will of the voters. Today, we did just that, and finally voted to get the archaic 1931 abortion ban off\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the books<\/span>\u00a0and ensure our laws\u00a0<\/span><\/span>align<\/span>\u00a0our Constitution. Unfortunately, every Senate Republican voted no, placing their own personal beliefs above the state Constitution and the will of the voters.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
