The FY 2025 budget totals $82.5 billion, including a general fund total of $15 billion and a school aid budget total of $19 billion. The overall budget prioritizes continued investments in education, infrastructure, protecting water and natural resources, public safety, fiscal responsibility, investments in local communities and much more. Despite these challenges, my colleagues and I worked hard to craft a budget that focuses on the needs of teachers and students alike. Along with this, the Michigan Legislature recently took action to make that change permanent by passing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.mi.gov\/Bills\/Bill?ObjectName=2024-SB-0911\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Senate Bill 911<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
