These passionate students dedicated themselves to a collective project and have proposed that Disability Awareness &amp; Education (DA&amp;E) Day be a state holiday celebrated annually on the third Friday in October. Group members created flyers, brochures, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, and a Change.org petition to promote their idea. They sent letters to other disability organizations and contacted their state legislators.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was impressed with their hard work and preparation, and I was proud to work with them to author and sponsor&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/action.meicigama.com\/actionctrl\/click\/6356903ed768d2437b8b5136\/62587e16d768d2dd2d8b59d6?url=http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2022-SR-0167\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senate Resolution 167<\/a>. The Michigan Senate unanimously adopted this resolution to recognize Disability Awareness &amp; Education Day this Oct. 21, 2022.
