In Michigan, a randomly selected commission of residents will be responsible for drawing U.S. Congressional and Michigan House and Senate district lines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Voters amended the state Constitution in November 2018 to give Michigan residents \u2014 not legislators or special interest groups \u2014 the responsibility to redraw district lines, called \u201credistricting.\u201d This commission will be composed of 13 randomly selected Michigan registered voters: four affiliated with the Democratic Party, four affiliated with the Republican Party, and five who do not affiliate with either major political party.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>This year is also a Census year, and it has never been easier to participate. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By returning your completed Census form, you are helping Michigan to be represented in Congress and determining how much funding we get for Head Start, health care, schools, roads, and our local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visit<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/programs-surveys\/decennial-census\/decade\/2020\/2020-census-main.html\"><b>My2020Census.gov<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to complete your questionnaire. Your login information is a 12-digit number located on the packet sent to you earlier this year. If you do not have a number or cannot locate those materials, the website also has a link to redirect you. Here in Michigan, we continue to plan our next steps in ensuring we fulfill our constitutional right without putting ourselves \u2014 and others \u2014 at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fortunately, recent changes to Michigan\u2019s election law mean you don\u2019t even have to leave your home to vote, and if you do, poll workers will be wearing personal protective equipment and engaging in proper health protocols.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ways to complete your absent voter ballot application<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>BY MAIL<\/b><b><br \/><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No-reason absentee voting now provides all registered voters the ability to vote by mail. If you have not received an application, you may contact your local clerk to request one. This form gives you the option to receive an absentee ballot in order to vote by mail. Once a voter signs their application, they can mail or email a photo of it to their local clerk, whose contact information is included on the application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The application is also available for download at<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/mvic.sos.state.mi.us\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, where you can register and join the permanent absent voter list, so you always have the option to vote from home if you so choose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ONLINE<\/b><b><br \/><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Friday, June 12, 2020, the Secretary of State\u2019s office announced a new, online absentee voter application platform. By visiting<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/mvic.sos.state.mi.us\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, you can:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Check your voter registration status.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absent voter ballot without providing a reason.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <\/span><b><i>NEW!<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Complete and return an absent voter ballot application online. You can now fill out and return your absent voter ballot application online at<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. To use the online application, you need to be registered to vote in Michigan and have a valid Michigan driver\u2019s license or state ID.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not sure where your polling location is or who your city or county clerk are?<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">* can help you find that answer. In Michigan, a randomly selected commission of residents will be responsible for drawing U.S. Congressional and Michigan House and Senate district lines. <br><br>Voters amended the state Constitution in November 2018 to give Michigan residents \u2014 not legislators or special interest groups \u2014 the responsibility to redraw district lines, called \u201credistricting.\u201d This commission will be composed of 13 randomly selected Michigan registered voters: four affiliated with the Democratic Party, four affiliated with the Republican Party, and five who do not affiliate with either major political party. <br><br><strong>This year is also a Census year, and it has never been easier to participate. <\/strong>By returning your completed Census form, you are helping Michigan to be represented in Congress and determining how much funding we get for Head Start, health care, schools, roads, and our local communities. <br><br>Visit <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/my2020census.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">My2020Census.gov <\/a><\/strong>to complete your questionnaire. If you have not received an application, you may contact your local clerk to request one. This form gives you the option to receive an absentee ballot in order to vote by mail. Once a voter signs their application, they can mail or email a photo of it to their local clerk, whose contact information is included on the application. <br><br>The application is also available for download at <a href=\"https:\/\/mvic.sos.state.mi.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Michigan.gov\/Vote (opens in a new tab)\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/a>, where you can register and join the permanent absent voter list, so you always have the option to vote from home if you so choose. <br><br><strong>ONLINE <\/strong><br>On Friday, June 12, 2020, the Secretary of State\u2019s office announced a new, online absentee voter application platform. By visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/mvic.sos.state.mi.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Michigan.gov\/Vote (opens in a new tab)\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/a>, you can: <br><br>\u2022 Check your voter registration status. <br>All eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absent voter ballot without providing a reason. <br><br>\u2022 <strong><em>NEW!<\/em><\/strong> Complete and return an absent voter ballot application online. You can now fill out and return your absent voter ballot application online at <a href=\"https:\/\/mvic.sos.state.mi.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Michigan.gov\/Vote (opens in a new tab)\">Michigan.gov\/Vote<\/a>.
