My bill will help youth in foster care by reserving their income rather than deposting their money into the state treasury, like we do now.
Instead of taking these dollars from kids in foster care, we should retain these dollars for their benefit, to help them obtain housing, education & stability. ... See MoreSee Less

Absolutely a wonderful idea. I adopted both my children from Michigan foster system but I know many never find permanent placement and age out. They need all the help they can get.
So instead of CPS stealing the money they will just “manage” it? What are the penalties when they fail?
Today we passed four bills that, together, improve protections for older adults and disabled residents who too-often face financial, physical, or emotional abuse.
These bills allow seniors and disabled residents to obtain a personal protection order against somebody who is abusing them, facilitating a quicker way to protect people from exploitation.
My bill, SB 114, enables counties to develop multidisciplinary and cross-jurisdiction teams to coordinate enforcement, educate caregivers, and share information for residents and among law enforcers.

Thank you.
So could the 14,000 plus seniors Whitmers policies killed have been eligible for a ppo?
Excellent work, Jeff Irwin. It's always good to help protect the rights of elderly people and disabled people. There are some other things I need to talk to you about. Please send me a private message when you can.
Michigan has a long, proud history of successful refugee resettlement. We should continue making room in our communities for people fleeing from violence and poverty because it's the right thing to do and because it's the smart thing to do.
This piece lays out some of the economic development benefits of refugee resettlement. Refugees not only enrich all of our lives culturally, they also make Michigan more prosperous.

One key to improving Michigan’s sagging population is immigrants, and the state stands to lose more than $70 million in tax revenues over the next 10 years from the president’s decree.1 CommentComment on Facebook
We need to get rid of all these illegal immigrants that have been placed near my home. When I go to Wal-Mart and Meijer now, there are people speaking in foreign languages and they have LOUD SPEAKERS in the parking lots with foreign versions of rock-n-roll. They stay until the police show up, and then they are scared off. Thankfully, Donald J. Trump make "English" the Official Language of America. And thankfully, Donald Trump is taking all those illegal immigrants out of America. Biden thought he was bringing in millions of liberal votes. Trump is getting rid of those illegal immigrants. I'm very glad Governor Whitmer ended her chances of becoming President by intentionally hiding her face while visiting Trump in the Oval Office. When Whitmer runs for President, there will be TV ads saying, "This woman hiding herself from the public is the same woman who refused to keep her campaign promise to sign the bill to improve Michigan's Freedom of Information Act so the Governor and Legislature are no longer 'immune' to the FOIA." The TV ad will zoom in on Whitmer's face being hidden behind those documents. The TV ad will say, "Whitmer wants the public kept in the dark, so they can't see what Whitmer is really like." And that is true. ... Governor Gretchen Whitmer should have signed that bill to improve the FOIA. Broken campaign promise. Michigan remains one of two states in the nation where the Governor and Legislature are immune to the FOIA - just like Whitmer and Mike Shirkey want it. Trump publicly said many times, "Michigan Senator Mike Shirkey is a RINO disgrace to the GOP."
