Today, I testified before the Michigan Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety in support of my bill, Senate Bill 336. This legislation would place clear limits on the use of no-knock warrants and establish specific guidelines for when and how they may be used—ensuring accountability and that officers are clearly identifiable.

SB 336 is part of a larger, bipartisan bill package: the Police Practices Standardization, Transparency, and Trust (S.T.A.T). Together, these bills aim to promote safer communities by improving policing practices and rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the people they serve.

I’m especially grateful to Senator Stephanie Chang for her longstanding leadership on this issue, and to my colleagues on this package for their dedication to creating meaningful change.
