Ananich and Chang on Reproductive Freedom Brief submitted to U.S. Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>LANSING, Mich. \u2013 Today, Senate Minority Leader&nbsp;<strong>Jim Ananich<\/strong>&nbsp;(D-Flint) and Minority Floor Leader Sen.&nbsp;<strong>Stephanie Chang<\/strong>&nbsp;(D-Detroit) issued the following statement after they and nearly 900 state legislators&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sixrepro.org\/press-releases\/nearly-900-state-legislators-express-support-for-abortion-rights-as-supreme-court-decides-future-of-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">submitted an amicus brief demanding<\/a>&nbsp;that the U.S. Supreme Court protect and uphold 50 years of legal abortion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAbortion is health care. We will not sit quietly while a certain small faction attempts to dismantle a person\u2019s right to their own reproductive freedom. While the current activist majority on the supreme court may be signaling their intent to undo or undermine protections promised to us under&nbsp;<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, this brief is a clear and urgent message that justices\u2019 personal beliefs should not interfere with the medical care of residents in this country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMichigan Senate Democrats will continue to do our part to fight for access to abortion health care here in Michigan.
