Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib will be joining as a special guest for this event. Many agencies like United Way, League of Women Voters, Detroit Area Agency on Aging, the Wayne County Treasurer Department, and many more will be present to assist residents with getting connected to a variety of services. The Detroit Public Library\u2019s mobile resource library will also be present to help residents with filling out the FEMA Disaster Assistance application. The Detroit Health Department will be present to administer COVID-19 vaccinations.\u202fFor those who would like to attend, masks are encouraged, and social distancing reminders will be put in place to ensure a safe environment for all participants.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static21.senatedems.org\/media\/700x0\/6102b7ec21a9f.png\" alt=\"example image 800x100\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We are planning a multi-part Housing Summit \u2014 all taking place on Zoom! Stay tuned for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br \/><strong>FLOOD RECOVERY ASSISTANCE<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As we all try to recover from the multiple flood events of the past few weeks, I wanted to share information from FEMA on the Disaster Recovery Centers opened so far in Wayne County.\u202fPlease note that residents are encouraged to apply for relief for which they are eligible \u2014 FEMA, SBA loans, Detroit Water &amp; Sewerage Department, and Great Lakes Water Authority all have relief resources, and Michigan has State Emergency Relief (SER) funds available. More Disaster Recovery Centers will open this week and my office will share their locations as they do.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&gt;&gt;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/senatedems.com\/chang\/news\/2021\/06\/26\/flooding-updates-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">You can find more resources on flood relief on my website at SenatorStephanieChang.com<\/a>.<br \/><br \/><em>FEMA Assistance<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated\u202fcounties can begin applying for assistance by registering online at\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/iqconnect.house.gov\/iqextranet\/iqClickTrk.aspx?&amp;cid=MI13RT&amp;crop=15815.15459434.5124528.7687584&amp;report_id=&amp;redirect=http%3a%2f%2fwww.DisasterAssistance.gov&amp;redir_log=332045871982237\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DisasterAssistance.gov<\/a>\u202for by calling\u202f<strong>1-800-621-FEMA(3362)<\/strong>\u202for\u202f<strong>1-800-462-7585 (TTY)<\/strong>\u202ffor the hearing and speech impaired.\u202fThe toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.,\u202fseven days a week until further\u202fnotice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, if you have suffered disaster-related damage to your home, personal property or business and have questions about available assistance, visit a FEMA-State Disaster Recovery Center in Southeast Michigan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, MI 48126<\/li><li>Maplewood Community Center, 31735 Maplewood St., Garden City, MI 48135<\/li><li>Kemeny Recreation Center, 2260 S. Fort St., Detroit, MI 48217<\/li><li>Eton Senior Recreation Center, 4900 Pardee Ave., Dearborn Heights, MI 48125<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Centers are staffed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday. At a Disaster Recovery Center, you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Register for FEMA assistance by using phone banks at the center.<\/li><li>Check the status of your application.<\/li><li>Meet with a FEMA applicant assistance representative.<\/li><li>Obtain information from state agencies and voluntary organizations.<\/li><li>Discuss U.S. Small Business Administration\u2019s (SBA) low-interest disaster loans for businesses, nonprofit organizations, homeowners, and renters, and receive help inputting your application or documents.<\/li><li>Obtain information about additional resources available and how to reduce future damage.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&gt;&gt;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/senatedems.com\/chang\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2021\/07\/DRC-Flyer-ALL-FOUR-ENSPA.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to download a flyer (in English and Spanish) of the above helpful information!<\/a><br \/><br \/><em>MDHHS State Emergency Relief Program<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The State Emergency Relief program provides immediate help to families and\u202findividuals facing conditions of extreme hardship or\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mdhhs\/0,5885,7-339-71547_5531_62129---,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">for emergencies that threaten health and safety<\/a>. It is available to eligible residents that need help with home repairs necessary to correct unsafe conditions and restore essential services.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must be the owner or purchaser of the home and meet other eligibility requirements, including income limits,\u202fto qualify.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lifetime maximum amount of funds available for non-energy related home repairs is $1,500 per household. State Emergency Relief Program assistance is available for repairs not covered by homeowner&#8217;s insurance for the basic house structure, hot water heater, septic\/waste disposal system, doors\/windows, extermination services, electrical, plumbing,\u202froofs\u202fand wells.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for State Emergency Relief, visit\u202f<a href=\"http:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/MIBridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michigan.gov\/MIBridges<\/a>. Anyone who does not have internet access or needs assistance applying can\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mdhhs\/0,5885,7-339-73970_5461---,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contact their local\u202fMDHHS office<\/a>. Or call 2-1-1 to be referred to other community resources.<br \/><br \/><em>Detroit Water and Sewerage Department Claims Application<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you live or own a business in Detroit and have experienced flooding because of the rain on June 25-26, call Detroit Water and Sewerage Department at 313-267-8000 and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/detroitmi.gov\/departments\/water-and-sewerage-department\/dwsd-customer-service\/dwsd-damage-claims-sewage-backups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fill out this form to file a claim<\/a>. After filling out the application it can be mailed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Office of The General Counsel<br \/>735 Randolph St., Suite 901<br \/>Detroit, MI 48226<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Please reach out to me or my office if we can help navigate the numerous flood relief resources for you or your neighbor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br \/><strong>FLOOD RELIEF FUNDING SIGNED BY GOVERNOR<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday, Governor Whitmer signed&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/legislature.mi.gov\/doc.aspx?2021-SB-0027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senate Bill 27<\/a>, which provides millions of dollars for flood relief and COVID-19-related relief to support hospitals, childcare resources, nursing facilities, law enforcement, and the wrongful imprisonment compensation fund.
