Passing a budget on time is a top priority for Senate Democrats — but we will not get backed into a corner and settle for a bad deal for our kids and schools.

House Republicans' proposal would defund the successful universal school meals program that has kept millions of Michigan kids fed, cut funding for mental health and school safety, and gut support for the districts that need it most — and those are not priorities we're willing to compromise on.
