Dear Neighbor,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From my family to yours,\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0like to wish you the happiest of holidays. I hope you have some time to take a stroll downtown to enjoy the beautiful decorations throughout Senate\u00a0District\u00a013, share laughter with family and friends, and enjoy all the fun our Michigan winters have to offer.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That being said, I\u00a0have to\u00a0acknowledge that\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0been a tough year.\u00a0From rising costs that have many of us making do with less, to devastating decisions from our federal government that have upended life as we knew it\u00a0\u2014\u00a0\u2018tough\u2019\u00a0might be an understatement. In the face of these challenges, the people of\u00a0our district\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0their strength and resilience through their generosity and kindness. When SNAP benefits were paused due to the federal government shutdown and uncertainty abounded, our friends and neighbors\u00a0\u2014\u00a0perhaps\u00a0even\u00a0you!\u00a0\u2014\u00a0stood up to make their voices heard and help our community stand strong. Similarly, in my coffee hours around the\u00a0community, I had the chance to talk to so many of you about the issues that are\u00a0impacting\u00a0your neighborhoods\u00a0\u2014\u00a0issues that extend beyond just you and your family.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0impressive to see such\u00a0civic-mindedness\u00a0these days, and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a privilege to have these important conversations with you.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is so much beauty in the diverse communities I\u00a0represent. Thank you for inviting me to the wonderful festivities around the\u00a0district\u00a0this year, where I enjoyed\u00a0countless\u00a0celebrations that\u00a0showcase\u00a0our kind, generous, and colorful community. I get the same warm feeling when I stop by some of the many small businesses in\u00a0our district\u00a0this time of year.\u00a0There\u2019s\u00a0a certain magic in seeing people light up when they find the perfect gift for a loved one, or hearing someone call out \u201cThanks! Happy Holidays!\u201d on their way out of\u00a0a\u00a0store. You\u00a0can tell there\u2019s true care for one another here.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
