(Jan. 26, 2022) \u2014 Sen. <strong>Rosemary Bayer<\/strong> (D-Beverly Hills) issued the following statement on Gov. Whitmer\u2019s fourth State of the State address, in which she spoke about&nbsp;her policy priorities for 2022, including investing in education and making health care services, including&nbsp;mental health support and services, more accessible:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has created tremendous challenges for teachers, staff and students, who have all had to adapt and be flexible in a landscape that&nbsp;has significantly changed the way our state has had to view how we teach the next generation of Michiganders. Considering this,&nbsp;I was pleased to hear about Governor Whitmer\u2019s continued dedication to investing in our schools to ensure that administrators and educators have the resources they need to provide a quality education to students.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMore than making sure students are paying attention in class, it is critical that mental health supports are easily accessible and readily available. Students are dealing with&nbsp;heightened levels of anxiety&nbsp;about their personal safety&nbsp;and&nbsp;feeling the&nbsp;pressure to succeed in school. Meeting them where they are and acknowledging the&nbsp;need for mental health care services will serve to&nbsp;benefit our state as we continue to work through this pandemic.&nbsp;I look forward to working with&nbsp;my colleagues in the Legislature on sound, long-term&nbsp;policy changes so that we can provide&nbsp;these resources&nbsp;in an equitable and affordable way.\u201d&nbsp;<br \/>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>###<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEVERLY HILLS, Mich.
