Today, we stand with the many individuals whose lives were forever changed by the events of 9/11/2001. Though the events of September 11th were horrendous, they also revealed the unwavering strength of the American spirit. The indomitable resolve of the American people showed the world that, even in our darkest moments, we stand together.

Today, I offered a Resolution and introduced legislation in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day.
My Resolution addressed the importance of continued investment in mental health resources and efforts to address the stigma of suicidal ideation. Donna's Law is a bill to allow Michiganders to voluntarily add themselves to 'do-not-sell' lists for the purchases of firearms. It’s a proven tool in other states - it reduces suicide by allowing people to help themselves simply by making it more difficult to purchase a firearm.
I hope you will join me in recognizing September as Suicide Prevention Month and supporting another life-saving tool for vulnerable Michiganders.
